Renault benefits from the arrival of spring to disclose new information about its upcoming electric cars.
The Renault-Nissan group announces its first two models of electric car that will soon be ready for mass production.
The Renault Fluence ZE had already been presented as a concept at the last Geneva Motor Show. Here it is almost final version with a 95 hp electric motor developing 226 Nm of torque.
With a lithium-ion battery of 250 kg and with its system of energy recovery during braking, the Fluence announces a range of 160 km. Note that the batteries are located between the back seat and trunk reducing the volume of it.
Pleasant surprise, the Renault Kangoo also arrives version ZE (Zero Emissions).
Equipped with the same device as the Fluence, Kangoo ZE has a 60 hp motor powered by a battery under the cargo floor and announce the same autonomy. Moreover, it appears 3 to 3.5 m3 and 650 kg payload, all for 4.21 m long.
Several methods of charging will be available:
- With a household outlet for a period of 6 to 8 am
- With a fast charging station in 30 minutes.
Marketing of Renault Fluence ZE and Kangoo ZE is scheduled for the first half of 2011.
